Burke and Catawba Counties
Serving Morganton and Hickory with the best in Senior Home Care
About Us
The majority of today’s seniors are unable to age in place due to a lack of appropriate support services. When a parent reaches a particular age and becomes medically frail, it is common for their children to be left to care for them. This is a difficult task for many members of the Sandwich Generation, who are juggling raising their own families while working full-time jobs, as well as caring for aging parents (s).
I am Kimberly Floyd, a Registered Nurse with 34 years of experience in the Healthcare field. I have been blessed with a diverse nursing career and the privilege to serve people in various settings including hospital, nursing home, and hospice care, as well as auditing nursing homes for the state of NC. I am excited to start a new chapter in my career by owning my At Home Eldercare agency and by bringing world-class home care to my WNC neighbors!
When not running the business, I can be found loving on my 11 grand babies! As a Licensed Home Processor, cooking is in my heart and having my grands help in the kitchen is a riot! The best is our family get-togethers; cooking for them, and then settling down in front of the TV for an LA Rams football game (fan since ’79), with Sadie and Brutus (a.k.a. Red) (our two Chiweenies) snuggling in! My happy place though is the ocean…anywhere on the water and I am in heaven!

When given the choice between aging in place in their own homes in a familiar environment or being placed in an Assisted Living Facility or nursing home, the majority of seniors will choose home. According to scientific studies, people heal better at home. One way to keep seniors in their homes for as long as possible is to provide additional support. While we can’t stop the aging process, we can help people continue in their homes by providing necessary and critical services. Companionship, personal care, chore provider services, meal preparation, prescription reminders, errand running, and helping elders get to and from doctor’s appointments are all examples of non-medical care. While these services are not medical in nature, they are crucial in keeping individuals out of hospitals and nursing homes for as long as feasible.
